Tap or hold ASCEND to pass over an object. Holding jump during the vault makes a vault jump. Releasing movement and holding ASCEND springboards instead.

Do abilities unlock every few levels?

Only some do. Coil is level 2, Dropkick is level 5, and Combo is level 10. Dash, powerslide, dropdown, afterboost, wall boost, and wall kick are challenges. Chain is at the top of Vertigo.
