Checkpoints are green when you have not synced them. Syncing a new one is one of the four published ways to gain level XP, along with first-time medals, certain missions, and combos.
Downtown has 53 checkpoints, the most of any district. Stack had 31 as of alpha 1.7 even though it is the largest district; alpha 1.72 added more, and a new total was not published in the notes that were captured. Dirwik and Fragment counts were not printed as a single total on the pages used here.
How to use them
- Follow flashing green lights while you learn a district. The Discover Checkpoints mission pays 60 for the first 10.
- Warp Core, a 300 token upgrade, teleports between checkpoints and races you have already unlocked. It does not reveal new ones.
- Signal Booster, 175 tokens, is the separate upgrade that lets you respawn anywhere, infinitely.
- Challenge towers have one-way elevators back to the start. They are not a substitute for the transceiver at the top.
- Spawn regions are the places you return to after a fall. Downtown, Dirwik, Fragment, and Stack each have them. Downtown's district card lists 3 spawn regions. Learning the nearest region matters more than sprinting back from Main Spawn.
Missions that overlap exploration
| Mission | What you actually do | Reward shown |
|---|---|---|
| Discover Checkpoints | Sync 10 | 60 |
| Survive terminal velocity | Stabilize, then perfect-land on a pad | 40 |
| Earn 3 bronze, silver, or gold medals | Three of that medal | 45, 60, or 120 |
| Earn a platinum medal | One platinum | 240 |
| Conquer Vertigo | Activate the transceiver at the top | 5 |
The medal missions do not replace the rank stars from the medals themselves. The 240 on the platinum mission is the mission reward figure, not a second copy of the "240 stars available from medals" total.
Respawn and death
Dying fails a delivery and ends a combo, but the combo still grants the XP it had built. Failing a delivery makes the next offer arrive about four times sooner. It does not reset checkpoints you have already synced.
If a fall is going to be long, stabilize before you look for a landing pad. A pad does not forgive an unstabilized terminal fall.
